MED-ATHALON 2020 WINNERS ANNOUNCED 鈥 INDIAN SCHOOL WINS THE TROPHY

After a three-day virtual event, the winners of the MED-ATHALON 2020 were announced by the 魅影直播 on Friday night.

The Indian School Bahrain has been declared the winner of the AMH MEDATHALON 2020 Health is Wealth Trophy for 2020.

The award is based on the overall scores of students and teachers who participated in various contests which included quizzes, speeches, debates and short films on this year鈥檚 topics related to the pandemic, viruses, biological science and the advances in the field of medicine.

鈥淭he headwind of Covid-19 has disrupted the learning and education industry,鈥 said the Corporate CEO Dr George Cheriyan, while speaking during the Grand Finale on Friday.   鈥淏ut for every disruption by an obstacle that comes our way, we must look for an opportunity to solve the problem and to adapt to a new form.   Once we come out of this covid crisis, you will see that a lot of learning is going to move outside, away from the conventional classroom.鈥

鈥淥n our part, AMH remains committed to stay connected to the community so that both physical and mental wellbeing is cared for, despite the context we find ourselves in鈥, he added.

鈥淪even schools participated in this event with the quiz alone having 60 students of various schools participating online simultaneously,鈥 said Dr Krishna of AMH, who organized MED-ATHALON 2020 with co-organizer Dr Babu Ramachandran. The quiz was conducted by the well-known quiz master Aneesh Nirmalan.

The toppers in the Quiz were Angel Deena Saji of Asian School, Rohit Sriram of New Indian School, and Harishankar Prasad of Asian School.

The Speech Contest winners were Falak Mansoor of Sacred Heart School, Neha Francis of Indian School, Aaron D鈥機osta of Sacred Heart School, and Srinidhi Vardharajan of the New Indian School. The judges made a special mention of Daniah Khaled of Alia National School, as a promising speaker.

The teachers debated on the topic 鈥業t is resolved that students holistic wellness is the school鈥檚 responsibility鈥 and the Asian School teachers鈥 team, comprising Anjana Gopinath and Vanitha Reynold, was declared as the winning debate team.

Indian School teachers鈥 team of Priya Laji and Anju Muralidharan and another Indian School teachers鈥 team of Shwetha Shaji and Savitha Rajesh Nair have taken the second and third places.

The Short Films by students which won the contest are 鈥 鈥The New Dawn鈥 by the Indian School, 鈥Face the Phase鈥 by Al Noor International School,  鈥罢谤颈苍驳鈥谤颈苍驳鈥 by Indian School and 鈥With High Hopes鈥 by Asian School.

鈥淢ED-ATHALON is conducted annually as one of AMH鈥檚 community engagement projects, and it is done not only to promote awareness of health and medicine, but also to inspire young people to embrace the fields of biology and medical science鈥, said Dr Babu Ramachandran.
